As I was walking through the grocery store this week, I was confused by our society’s’ approach to their personal health. I saw aisles of empty toilet paper, hand sanitizer and water but saw full aisles full of vitamins, enriched juices with vitamin C and barely anyone outside absorbing Vitamin D. Remember the last time you were in an airplane; they teach you to take care of yourself first so that you can help others afterwards.
Here are some suggestions for protecting you.
1) Get regular chiropractic care
This is not our first Flu Pandemic in the U.S. As World War I was coming to an end, more lives would soon be lost than the total from the entire war. The influenza pandemic of 1917-1918 claimed 25-40 million lives. This was the greatest plague of modern times. in 1917-1918 almost nothing was known about prevention, protection, treatment or cure of influenza. The whole world stood at its mercy, or lack of it.”
If we are in another influenza crisis, what should you do? A flu shot? Sorry, evidence indicates that the flu shots are ineffective. Former chief vaccine control officer of the FDA, J. Anthony Morris stated, “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed if effective or mitigating any attack of influenza.” Could our population be ravaged again by another influenza pandemic?
Maybe there is hope. During the crisis in 1917-1918 chiropractors noticed that their patients weren’t dying like the rest of the population. The chiropractic patients seemed to fair far better than the non-chiropractic patients. In Davenport Iowa, the chiropractic patients were much healthier. Medical doctors treated 93,590 influenza patients and 6,116 died. The flu killed 1 out 15 medically treated patients. Palmer College of Chiropractic adjusted 4,735 influenza patients and only 6 died. That’s only 1 out of 886 of the chiropractic treated patients! 2 “National figures show that 1,142 chiropractors treated 46,394 patients for
influenza during 1918, with a loss of 54 patients - one out of every 886.”
“Reports show that in New York City, during the influenza epidemic of 1918, out of every 10,000 cases medically treated, 950 died; and in every 10,000 pneumonia cases medically treated 6,400 died. These figures are exact, for in that city these are reportable diseases.”
“In the same epidemic, under drugless methods, only 25 patients died of influenza out of every 10,000 cases; and only 100 patients died of pneumonia out of every 10,000 cases. This comparison is made more striking by the following table:”

“In the same epidemic reports show that chiropractors in Oklahoma treated
3,490 cases of influenza with only 7 deaths. But the best part of this is, in Oklahoma there is a clear record showing that chiropractors were called in for 233 cases where medical doctors had cared for the patients, and finally gave them up as lost. The chiropractors saved all these lost cases but 25.”
After the state governments saw these stats, this is when chiropractors became licensed professional doctors. At the beginning chiropractic was not about back pain relief but rather better nervous system function which “yes” controls your immune system and its ability to fight diseases.
Now of course, we are far more advanced with our medical treatments than we were in 1918 and todays medical care may have saved many of the lives lost back then. My main concern is the medical care we give today is still retroactive.

2. Fortify yourself with nutrition.
Besides getting adjusted regular, I would like to share what I will be taking nutritionally to support my internal defense against all foreign diseases. Beware of any nutrition that makes claims of curing anything and I will not tell you that I know what will cure anything. I would like to tell you what I am personally taking to protect me health. Other important vitamins is to take some basic Vitamins like C and D.
The virus appears to be sensitive to both Vitamin C and Vitamin D. If you examine the global map of the spread of the Coronavirus, you will see that it is not spreading much in the areas with more sunlight (such as around the equator). Hence my suggestion of 50 mcg of Vitamin D daily, and 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams of Vitamin C every 2 hours (Too much Vitamin C will cause watery stools). Vitamin C is water soluble and only stays in your system about two hours. Animals seem to be immune to developing CIVUD-19. However, they can be carriers of the virus because they can manufacture their own Vitamin C internally, while humans cannot because of a lack of a specific gene. Vitamin D is synthesized in your skin when exposed to sunlight. Therefore, the best advice is to get outdoors!
3) Managing your stress levels to protect your immune system.
When I was a Psychology major in undergrad I did a paper on a stress on the immune system. The study took college students and took a vial of blood and measured their white blood cells which is am immune system health indicator. They then had the students sit in front of a screen and read negative words such as “hate” “death” “war” ect… They then took another vial of blood and noticed almost all of their white blood cells disappeared. This indicated that when we are stressed our body goes into a fight or flight survival mode and it feels that it doesn’t have to worry about fighting infections when it is in survival mode. If you are stressed already and this pandemic is making it worse, your immune system may really not be working well.
A simple thing you can do to reduce stress is to take time to breathe correctly which has been shown to put the body into a parasympathic (relaxed) state. I have attached a breathing technique I would recommended that you do almost hourly.
I would also recommend trying to quit or reduce at least one new thing that is a stress on your life per week. I have personally been working on reducing sugary and artificially flavored drinks myself.
Take action to protect yourself and don’t get caught up in a media panic frenzy. This is not healthy for you personally or society. Please take this time in our lives to focus on our own personal wellbeing and get healthy. Plus, it is a great time to build bonding time with your family. I spent 24 hours a day this weekend with the kids, no sports, no events or activities except for when a got a hot tip of a small quantity of toilet paper available at the grocery store because we were running low.
You can take this period of your life to build your health not be scared of it.
