In our daily routine, we do not always take our muscles to their full tension or relaxation points. This can make the brain think the muscle can only stretch so far or contract so far. Then we do some sort of movement out of the ordinary and this is beyond what the brain thinks is a normal tension or movement for a muscle and then you get pain or a spasm reaction. This little drill helps create a muscle map for the paraspinal muscles that run up and down the back. By doing this drill, you may be able to prevent back pain when you want to be more active. This drill can be done sitting or standing and is great to do once or twice a day at your desk to prevent back pain. Try it and let us know if you have any questions.
